So, what kind of character do you like? There are a few weak class combinations, but they're few and far between. I seem to like mostly mobile active play, where I hit buttons, and badguys die, and I can go where I please!Īny other suggestions? Something else I could pair Arcanist with? Anything I could do with Inquisitor? I just want to try more things! I didn't like blackwater cocktail or thermite mines, and a lot of stuff seemed to require those.

I was planning to go Demolitionist, but that class doesn't seem to be doing it for me, either.

I got Arcanist up to 8 or so, but didn't seem to be digging it. Can I do without it? I also don't like pets. but it turns out that I hate Wendigo totem. I thought I was digging my Shaman/Soldier. Fast, lots of tricks, can close with ranged easily, good against solos or groups. Thus far, I seem to be best with my Nightblade/Soldier. I've gotten 3 up to levels 20-25, and at least three more up to less than that. Except I'm constantly changing what class I play. You can read more detail on how these two skill types interact in this guide. So, I've been playing this a fair bit since I recently picked it up. For instance, the Direwolf Claw skill on Mythical Direwolf Crest is a WPS, while the Bear Claw skill on Mythical Sigil of the Bear King is not. Note that most procs on items (phrased "X% Chance on Attack") are not WPS, though they look similar. You can tell if a skill is a WPS via its tooltip as well WPS will include the phrase "X% Chance to be Used." Only DARs (and default attack) can trigger Weapon Pool Skills (WPS), attack modifiers that proc off of autoattacks.

The full list of DARs in the game (not including your character's default attack) is: You can tell if a skill is a DAR by checking its description tooltip - if it's a DAR, it will include the phrase "When used as your default weapon attack."

The type of skill you're looking for is called a Default Attack Replacer (DAR). Is that right? If so, how can I best tailor my character to use passive skills (or avoid them if they'll be useless)? which seems to indicate that there are almost no primary weapon skills with which I can use these passive skills. When I'm choosing skills, is there a way I can tell whether given passive and active skills will work together? Up till now I had assumed that any passive skill (marked with a circle) works with any active skill (marked with a square), but that seems not to be the case. I'm using Primal Strike and Thunderous Strike (so I get lightning strikes on every attack).īut someone pointed out to me that I'm wasting my points in Feral Hunger and Upheaval, because they only work in conjunction with "default weapon attacks", and Thunderous Strike isn't a default weapon attack. I'm playing Grim Dawn using a Shaman/Soldier classes.
